Who was Clarence in Richard III?

Clarence's character in Richard III is George Plantagenet, Duke of Clarence. The play describes him as a foolish, arrogant, and easily manipulated man who does not take his responsibilities as a royal seriously. He is also deeply jealous of his brother, Richard, and is easily manipulated by him. Clarence's character is used to show how easily people can be led astray by their own ambitions and desires, and how dangerous it can be to be too trusting of others.
