Historical story

What were the secret hide outs where people drank in during prohibition?

During prohibition, people consumed alcohol in clandestine locations known as speakeasies. These covert establishments typically disguised themselves as legitimate businesses, such as restaurants or cafes, to avoid detection by authorities. Patrons would enter speakeasies through hidden entrances, often by providing a secret password or knocking in a specific manner. Once inside, they could enjoy alcoholic drinks that were produced illegally or acquired through bootlegging. In the United States, Prohibition was a nationwide ban on the production, transportation, and sale of alcoholic beverages from 1920 to 1933.
