Historical story

Why did Clemenceau want revenge?

Clemenceau wanted revenge against Germany because of the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71, which resulted in the French loss of the province of Alsace-Lorraine. He believed that Germany had been the aggressor in that conflict and that France had been unfairly punished. He was also deeply affected by the suffering and humiliation that France had endured during the war and was determined to avenge those losses.
