Historical story

Who created pajamas?

The modern, one-piece garment we know as "pajamas" originated in colonial India in the 17th century. Initially, the term referred to loose-fitting trousers called 'pae jama', derived from the Persian word for 'leg garment' ('pae' means 'leg', and 'jama' means 'garment').

But today's pajamas are believed to be an extension of the traditional nightshirt, which existed long before the concept of pajamas emerged. The British colonizers adopted and popularized the term 'pajamas,' and over time, the garment eventually found its way to Europe and the rest of the world.
