How many lives were saved during 911?

It is impossible to say exactly how many lives were saved during 9/11, as there is no way to know how many people would have died if the attacks had not happened. However, it is estimated that the actions of firefighters, police officers, and other first responders saved thousands of lives. For example, the New York City Fire Department estimates that its members saved over 25,000 lives on 9/11. Additionally, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey estimates that its police officers saved over 1,000 lives.
