George Winfield is an American film director and producer. He is best known for his horror films of the 1970s and 1980s, including _Day of the Dead_ (1985), _The Return of the Living Dead_ (1985), and _Land of the Dead_ (2005).

Early Life

Winfield was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1943. He began making short films at a young age, using his father's 8mm camera. He later attended the University of Oklahoma, where he studied film and television production.

Career

After graduating from college, Winfield moved to Los Angeles and began working as a production assistant on various film and television projects. He eventually got his big break in 1972 when he was hired to direct his first feature film, _The Werewolf of Washington_.

Winfield went on to direct a number of successful horror films in the 1970s and 1980s. His most notable works include _Day of the Dead_ (1985), _The Return of the Living Dead_ (1985), and _Land of the Dead_ (2005).

In addition to his work in film, Winfield has also directed several television series, including _The Twilight Zone_ (1985-1986), _The Outer Limits_ (1995-1999), and _Masters of Horror_ (2005-2007).
