Did Michigan ever have a law regarding hot dogs?

Michigan did indeed once have a law concerning hot dogs. The city of Detroit implemented an unusual rule in the 1930s that prohibited food vendors from selling hot dogs unless the vendor had a permit. The law stipulated that anyone caught selling hot dogs without a permit would face a fine of up to $100. The reason behind this regulation is not entirely clear, but some speculate it was an attempt by the city to ensure sanitary food conditions.
