Historical story

Where did the Dawson name come from?

The surname Dawson is of patronymic origin and is derived from the Norman personal name David, itself a form of the biblical name David, borne also by a Celtic saint of Wales from the 6th century. The Dawson patronymic comes specifically from Davyson, "son of David," the first known bearer on record being Thomas Dauesune of 1158–69.
