What was the purpose for Paul ride?

Paul Revere made his famous midnight ride on April 18, 1775, to warn American patriots that British troops were on the move from Boston to Concord, Massachusetts. The purpose of his ride was to alert the local militias so that they could prepare for battle and defend their towns. Revere and other riders spread the word to many towns along the way, ensuring that the colonies' forces were ready to confront the British forces led by Generals Thomas Gage and Hugh Percy. As a result, the battles of Lexington and Concord took place the following day, marking the opening shots of the American Revolution.
