Sacher cake
Strange as it may seem, among the powerful Austrian chancellor Klemens von Metternich (1773-1859) and the very good Sacher cake , the flagship of your country's gastronomy, there is a very close bond.
The politician, in fact, famous for being one of the major architects of the Congress of Vienna (1815), unwittingly contributed to the invention of this dessert.
Metternich was fond of chocolate, a detail that the sixteen-year-old court baker Franz Sacher, was obviously aware of called to replace another cook and invited by Metternich himself to prepare a dessert that would not make him disfigure with the guests.
It was the year 1832 :the Sachertorte and the brilliant inventor of him became immortal.
