Pocahontas in a representation
The beautiful Indian princess Pocahontas celebrated by films, songs, books and, recently, the animated masterpiece of Disney, who made her so popular with us too, she married the tobacco farmer John Rolfe as far back as 1614.
For a long time, people wondered where the church was in which the wedding was celebrated and we went on the trail of her, until a team of archaeologists led by Bill Kelso, did not dig in a hitherto unexplored area of the English fort of Jamestown , Virginia.
Here the group of scholars came across deep holes which, according to their hypothesis, supported by careful studies and difficult research, housed the wooden poles of the first Church of Jamestown, built in 1608 by Captain John Smith.
Unfortunately, the building has been lost, but the suggestion emanating from the place remains ( see also https://www.pilloledistoria.it/8815/storia-moderna/storia-della-vera-pocahontas).
