Roman legionaries
We have always considered legionaries of ancient times as men of Spartan life and habits, but perhaps we were wrong.
They shouldn't have had a bad time, at least judging by the artifacts found at the fort of Novae (today's Svistov), in Bulgaria, the Roman legionaries sent to the eastern front of the empire; in the aforementioned area a team in fact, of archaeologists from the University of Warsaw recently discovered a treasure consisting of hundreds of coins and valuable objects in bone, bronze, glass and horns that belonged to them, well preserved despite the remote dating, including between the 1st and 6th centuries. AD
The same research also led to the discovery of the remains of a house inhabited by a centurion , whose rich furnishings and even the presence of a balneum (spa) private, suggests an existence that is anything but arranged and modest.
