"All Greeks are fighting for the recognition of the Genocide of the Pontic Greeks by all the countries of the planet. The Turks should finally apologize for the crime", says the president of the Change Movement, Fofi Gennimata, on the Day of Remembrance of the Genocide of the Pontic Greeks.
As he adds, this is also the message of today's Remembrance Day, established in 1994 unanimously by the Parliament on the initiative of Andreas Papandreou.
Ms. Gennimata points out that they were massacred, lost their people, tortured, uprooted, built their lives from scratch in their new homelands, started again and are always looking forward, but they have not forgotten never their roots. "One of the most dynamic and creative cells of Hellenism, which comes from the depths of the centuries and makes its presence felt everywhere, in all social sectors", he emphasizes and concludes:"Honor to Pontic Hellenism is the antidote to oblivion" .
