From October 16 to 24, the Week of History will kick off again in the Netherlands, this time with the theme “Land and Water”. And Kennislink is of course also present as a participant.
We can almost speak of a kind of love-hate relationship when we look at the relationship between the Netherlands and water. The Dutch have tried for centuries to curb the surrounding water. Sometimes we were successful in that, other times the sea hit back hard. Yet the Dutch have always made a virtue of necessity. Internationally, we were – and still are – known as a people that knew what to do with water.
During History Week, Kennislink's History &Archeology page focuses entirely on the historical battle between 'Land and Water'. During this theme week you will read about Dutch pirates and the flood disaster. But you can also follow a live report of the Night of History, read about special activities, and test your knowledge about the history of Dutch water management.
Want to get in the mood already? Then enter our photo contest! Kennislink is organizing a photo competition on the theme of 'Land and Water' especially for the Week of History.
What is the intention?
Take a photo in which you think the theme 'Land and Water' is portrayed as well, fun, or original as possible. Photos with a historical context naturally have an advantage. We will place the most beautiful entries in a slideshow on Kennislink, and the most beautiful entry will win a history prize package!

You can submit your photo in a number of ways:
