Meetings with Queen Bona's cuisine are a prelude to this year's Midsummer Fair, to which CiekawostkiHistoryczne.pl is inviting you on June 15-17.

The Return of Kings

June 15, the first day of the event, will be devoted to the end of the reign of Sigismund Augustus, when the sick king surrounded himself with crowds of magicians and fortune-tellers. You will be able to meet Jan Piotr Twardowski here. In the evening there will be a show ending with the spirit of Barbara Radziwiłłówna invoked by master Twardowski.

Saturday, June 16, will be devoted to Anna Jagiellonka. At noon, a retinue of courtiers and guards will set off from Wawel to the Main Market Square to welcome Stefan Batory, arriving from the Florian Gate, and lead him to a meeting with Anna Jagiellonka. In the evening, on the Czerwieński Boulevard, the royal couple invites to a ball combined with a dance show.

On Sunday, June 17, King Zygmunt III Waza will be welcomed at the St. John's Fair. We will spend the day on joyful performances on the birthday of Prince Władysław.

After the feast, it's time to play!

And that's not all! Krakow in the Golden Age was a city rich, colorful and vibrant with history. People of different faiths and nationalities lived here, and the king watched over their life in harmony. In Krakow, coronations, weddings of kings and magnates were held, as well as large fairs that attracted merchants, craftsmen and comedians.

At this year's Midsummer Fair, you will be able to meet not only alchemists, but also real comedians. Painting by Antoine Watteau "Italian Comedians".

The theater, comedians and comedy dell'arte are one of the main themes of the ninth St. John's Fair. On the Czerwieński Boulevard you will be able to admire the performances full of humor and sudden twists of action . Comedy dell'arte is characterized by a large dose of acting improvisation. The performers only have to adhere to a certain framework of the scenario in order for the performance to be coherent, and therefore subsequent performances may differ, although their essential content is the same. This difficult play will be guided by the Comedians 'Troupe operating in Krakow as part of the National Comedy Stage dell' Arte at the Praska 52 Theater.

The stories of Polish alchemists will be another very important theme of the Midsummer Fair. In the 16th century, several of them visited and lived in Krakow. And some of them will be on display near Wawel!

However, not only they will come to this year's edition of the event. The Czerwieński Boulevard will also be visited by craftsmen and merchants, monarchs and courtiers, knights and guards, itinerant musicians and dancers. There will be shows, parades, races and performances. Traditional, hot-swap patents will be available from Tutnar.

NOTE:Admission to the event is traditionally free . The City of Krakow and the Krakow Festival Office invite you to the event.
