Key Responsibilities:
1. Energy Policy and Strategy:

- Oversees the nation's energy production, including fossil fuels, renewable energy sources, and nuclear energy.
- Manages the strategic petroleum reserve (SPR) to mitigate supply disruptions and maintain energy security.
3. Energy Efficiency and Conservation:
- Promotes energy efficiency measures and technologies to reduce energy consumption across sectors.
- Collaborates with stakeholders to develop and implement standards and incentives for energy conservation.
4. Research and Development:

- Directs DOE national laboratories, including Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), Sandia National Laboratories (SNL), and others.

- Represents the United States in international energy negotiations, partnerships, and agreements.
- Collaborates with foreign governments and organizations on energy-related initiatives and policies.
6. Environmental Stewardship:
- Enforces environmental standards and regulations related to energy production and utilization, including pollution control and remediation.
7. Nuclear Security and Safety:
- Oversees the nation's nuclear weapons and materials security programs.
- Ensures the safe and responsible management of nuclear energy and waste disposal.
8. Budget Management:
- Develops and manages the DOE's annual budget, allocating resources effectively to achieve its strategic objectives.
9. Leadership and Communication:
