Britain imported from its colonies:
- Raw materials, such as tobacco, cotton, sugar, and coffee, rice and indigo. Furs, timber and other forest products, whalebone and walrus ivory.
In addition to these commodities, Britain also traded with its colonies in manufactured goods that were exported to other parts of the world. These included products such as clocks and watches, textiles, china and glassware, cutlery, leather goods and furniture.
