Anne Frank was a young Jewish girl who hid with her family and friends in a secret annex in Amsterdam, Netherlands during the Holocaust. She wrote a diary about her experiences in hiding, which was published after her death and became one of the most widely read books in the world.
2. Corrie ten Boom
Corrie ten Boom was a Dutch Christian woman who helped many Jews escape from the Holocaust. She and her family hid Jews in a secret room in their home in Haarlem, Netherlands. Corrie ten Boom was arrested by the Nazis in 1944 and spent time in a concentration camp. She survived and after the war, she wrote a book about her experiences called "The Hiding Place".
3. Oskar Schindler
Oskar Schindler was a German businessman who saved the lives of over 1,000 Jews by employing them in his factories during the Holocaust. Schindler is credited with saving more Jewish lives than any other individual during the Holocaust.
4. Chiune Sugihara
Chiune Sugihara was a Japanese diplomat who saved the lives of over 6,000 Jews by issuing them transit visas to Japan. Sugihara was stationed in Lithuania during the Holocaust and he risked his own life to save as many Jews as he could.
5. Raoul Wallenberg
Raoul Wallenberg was a Swedish diplomat who saved the lives of over 100,000 Jews by issuing them protective passports and sheltering them in safe houses. Wallenberg is credited with saving more Jewish lives than any other individual during the Holocaust.
