* Harriet Tubman (c. 1822–1913) was an African-American abolitionist and political activist. She escaped from slavery in 1849, and then made 13 trips back to the South to help other slaves escape. She is known as the "Moses of her people."
* Susan B. Anthony (1820–1906) was a women's rights activist and suffragist. She played a leading role in the women's suffrage movement, and was instrumental in getting the 19th Amendment passed, which gave women the right to vote.
* Amelia Earhart (1897–1937) was a pioneering American aviator. She was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She disappeared during a flight around the world in 1937.
* Rosa Parks (1913–2005) was an African-American civil rights activist. She is best known for refusing to give up her seat to a white man on a segregated bus in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1955. This incident sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which led to the desegregation of public transportation in the United States.
