What key date pennies should you look for?

There are a number of key date pennies that are highly sought after by collectors, including:

* 1793 Chain Cent: The first official penny minted by the United States Mint, this coin features a chain link on the reverse. It is the rarest of all pennies, and even in poor condition can fetch over $10,000.

* 1794 Liberty Cap Cent: This coin is notable for its small size, as well as the fact that it was the only penny minted in 1794. It is slightly less rare than the 1793 Chain Cent, but still very valuable, with prices starting around $5,000.

* 1795 Flowing Hair Cent: This coin features a design with a flowing hair on the obverse, and is the most common of the early pennies. Prices for this coin start around $1,000.

* 1804 Draped Bust Cent: This coin is one of the most famous key date pennies, as it is one of the rarest coins in American history. Only a handful of these coins are known to exist, and they can sell for over $1 million each.

* 1856 Flying Eagle Cent: This coin is notable for its unique design, featuring a flying eagle on the obverse. It was only produced for a single year, and is relatively scarce. Prices for this coin start around $1,000.

* 1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent: This coin was designed by Victor David Brenner, and features his initials (VDB) on the reverse. The initials were removed the following year, making the 1909-S VDB a popular collector's item. Prices for this coin start around $1,000.

* 1943 Steel Cent: This coin was produced during World War II, when copper was needed for the war effort. It was made of steel, and is the only cent ever made from this material. These coins are fairly common, but are still popular with collectors and can fetch prices of around $100.
