How did harreit Tubman get her name?

Araminta Ross, later known as Harriet Tubman, was born into slavery in Maryland. She was not given a surname at birth, as slave owners did not typically grant surnames to enslaved people. When she escaped to freedom and began her work as a conductor on the Underground Railroad, she took on the name "Harriet Tubman" in honor of her mother, Harriet Ross.
