The Roosevelt dime was introduced into circulation in 1946, shortly after the death of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. It replaced the Mercury dime, which had been in circulation since 1916. The Roosevelt dime is the only dime to feature a portrait of a real person.
The Roosevelt dime is still minted today, and it is one of the most common coins in circulation. It is worth $0.10, or 10 cents. However, some Roosevelt dimes may be worth more than 10 cents. For example, a Roosevelt dime that was minted in 1946 or 1947 may be worth more than $10 because it is one of the first Roosevelt dimes to be minted and is therefore more rare.
The following are some of the most valuable Roosevelt dimes:
* 1946-D Roosevelt dime: $10 - $20
* 1946-S Roosevelt dime: $15 - $35
* 1947-D Roosevelt dime: $15 - $30
* 1947-S Roosevelt dime: $25 - $50
* 1948-D Roosevelt dime: $10 - $25
* 1948-S Roosevelt dime: $15 - $30
* 1949-D Roosevelt dime: $10 - $20
* 1949-S Roosevelt dime: $15 - $25
* 1950-D Roosevelt dime: $10 - $20
