What did the terrorists attack on 9-11?

On September 11, 2001, terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners. Two of the planes were crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, another crashed into the Pentagon just outside Washington, D.C., and the fourth plane crashed in rural Pennsylvania when some of the passengers tried to regain control of the plane. Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the attacks.
