Bertrand du Guesclin (1320 - 1380)

Originally from Brittany, Bertrand du Guesclin won the respect of the nobility at the point of his sword. He is at the origin of many exploits, he is one of the greatest warriors of his time. Entered the service of Charles V, he won the Battle of Cocherel in 1364 against Charles the Bad. The same year he was taken prisoner at the battle of Auray against the son of Jean de Montfort. In 1365, at the request of the King of France, he trained the Grandes Compagnies in Spain. He took part in the Battle of Montiel in 1370. As a reward for these actions in Spain, he was made Duke of Molina. In October 1370, back in France, he was made constable by Charles V. His big business was to expel the English. Thanks to his cunning, he manages to regain almost all of the English conquests. Charles V had him buried in the royal basilica of Saint-Denis, alongside the kings of France.
