What is a ground face union?

A ground face union is a type of fitting used to connect two pipes together. It is made by welding a flange onto the end of each pipe, then bolting the two flanges together. The faces of the flanges are then ground flat, so that they create a seal when they are bolted together. Ground face unions are often used in applications where a leak-proof connection is required, such as in the chemical or food processing industries.

Ground face unions are available in a variety of materials, including steel, stainless steel, and brass. They can also be fitted with a variety of gaskets, depending on the application. The most common type of gasket used with ground face unions is a rubber gasket.
