History
The Indian Head Cent was produced by the United States Mint from 1859 to 1909. It was designed by James B. Longacre, who also designed the Flying Eagle Cent and the Two-Cent Piece.
The obverse of the Indian Head Cent features a portrait of a Native American wearing a headdress. The reverse features a wreath of oak leaves and the denomination "ONE CENT".
The Indian Head Cent was replaced by the Lincoln Cent in 1909.
