Dan Yai Stone Shed There is another name Dan Yai Rock Shed, where the word "Dan" in the Isan language means a hill or a stone courtyard, therefore, Dan Yai Rock Shed is the name that was called to describe the geographical features of the stone sheds located on the large stone courtyard (pitak Chai Jatuchai 2010 :175)
The Dan Yai Stone Shed 1 has a pattern of colored paintings on the ceiling of the stone shed. The stone surface is pink and smoother than the area. Indicates the intention to select the area to be written. There is no preparation of the stone wall surface before painting (Phayao Khemnak 1996 :148) by writing in red strokes, 2 pictures, written in the area where the stone is pink. Characteristics of the image are straight parallel lines continually with curved lines as the same image. but unable to interpret the meaning of the picture There is also a symbolic image that has an indeterminate shape. Characteristics are colored stains, written in patches, many sets, written in red (Archaeology Division 1989a:118; Pitakchai Jatuchai 2010 :176; Payao Khemnak 1996 :148)
Phayao Khemnak (Department of Fine Arts 2532a:119), a surveyor in 1986, assumed that these paintings should have a meaning in terms of rituals rather than expressions of art. This rock shed would not be a permanent shelter. but used as a place for some common ceremonies of lowland groups in the vicinity of the source.
While Pitakchai Chatuchai (2010:177) assumed that from the appearance inside the stone shed that is a hall able to stay And there are also stones that support the stone shed as the wall of the room to protect it from outside danger. Therefore, the source of paintings in Hin Dan Yai is suitable for living or as a shelter from the sun and rain as well. The color paintings found are probably symbols to represent the possession of a dwelling or the territorial capture of a family or group of people for the purpose of hunting and hunting.
