The nose of the Sphinx

The mystery of the author of the destruction of the nose of the Sphinx still remains unsolved .
Contrary to popular belief, the nose of the Sphinx it was not destroyed in the Napoleonic era, but much earlier, in 1378 , the work of an Islamic cleric, Sa'im al-Dahr , who was lynched immediately after the fact for acts of vandalism. The belief has it that Napoleon's soldiers were guilty of this vandalism.
But there are some images of Frederick Lewis Norden dating back to 1737 , which already show the Sphinx without nose.
