Sikyatki | archeological site, Arizona, USA

Sikyatki (Hopi:"Yellow House"), ruined pueblo covering 4 to 6 hectares in present-day Navajo County northeast of Arizona , United States. The site was occupied by members of the USA's Firewood or Kokop clan Hopi during the regressive Pueblo stage (c. Ad 1300-1700) the Ancestral Pueblo Culture . Archaeological exploration of the site in the 1890s revealed clay bowls, glasses and ladles decorated with distinctive polychrome designs dating to between 1375 and 1625. The patterns are iconic Representations of heads, beaks, wings and feathers of birds. were made with paints containing black, red, or white mineral pigments on a yellow or orange background, resulting from the firing of a ferruginous clay. The beauty of the decorations inspired their imitation by 20th-century artisans.
