4. Culture of Muslims of Indonesian Islands

Muslims in other islands in the Indonesian archipelago, including Java, differ greatly from Muslims in Arabia and West Asia. Since the matriarchal authority used to be on these islands, so even after becoming a Muslim, they accepted the primacy of women instead of men.

Here the right to divorce is not with the man but with the woman. The Muslims of Arabia and West Asia do not worship idols while the Muslims of the islands of Java etc. have not completely abandoned idols. This is the reason that even today a large number of ancient and new sculptures are found on these islands.
