The RIMaP-NC has more than 900 men, more than half of whom are “rotating” (staff on a four-month mission). The majority of permanent staff are soldiers who have come from mainland France for a two-year stay. Only 90 non-commissioned soldiers are from local recruitment as EVAT or VDAT.
He is stationed in 3 locations:Plum, Nouméa and Nandaï and he constitutes the bulk of the French forces of the area for ground action. Its missions are mainly to affirm French sovereignty over New Caledonia and its dependencies, to participate in missions in the South-West Pacific zone and to provide support, in particular technical support, for the benefit of army organizations. of land, even in some areas, of the forces of the territory.

Organization

It includes the following units:
3 rotating companies that come from mainland France for a period of 4 months:
1 parachute company in Plum (COMPARA)
1 protection-defense company in Nouméa (COMTTA)
1 motorized infantry company in Nandaï (COMMOTO)
4 permanent units :
1 Command and Logistics Company in Plum (CCL)
1 mixed armour-support squadron in Plum (EBM)
1 Plum Regimental Maintenance Company (RMC)
1 Noumea Headquarters Support Company (CQG)

Materials

It has nearly:
200 tactical vehicles, including 6 ERC 90 wheeled armored vehicles,
public works machinery,
more than 1,000 weapons, including 4 120 mm mortars,
nearly 200 radio equipment.

Recruitment

Non-commissioned soldiers recruited on the territory undergo an initial military training of 4 months, then a specialty training of 2 months depending on their future employment within one of the permanent companies.
