Edict of Nantes

Promulgated by Henri IV on April 13, 1598, the edict officially closed the Wars of Religion*, which had effectively ended since the king's conversion to the Catholic religion.
The Edict of Nantes, inspired in part from the Edict of Poitiers signed by Henri III the day after the Peace of Bergerac (1577), granted the Protestant minority six freedoms. The exercise of Reform worship in a city by bailiwick, except Paris.
Admission of Huguenots to schools. Their admission into the public service. The meeting of assemblies.
The representation of a mid-party chamber in parliaments.
The maintenance of a hundred places of safety, including La Rochelle, for eight years.

Although the Roman religion is officially restored where it was banned, some murmur against the liberalism of Henry IV. This one will reply to the dissatisfied:"I made an edict, I want to be obeyed I"
