Olmec Mysteries - History of the Olmec Mysteries

Shortly after it was discovered in 1927 in Lubaantun, British Honduras, it became known as the Skull of Fate, and successive reports linked it to several unexplained deaths. For scientific observers, the essential mystery of the skull is logistical:how did it appear in the 1000-year-old Mayan temple where it was found? Carved from a single piece of rare quartz crystal, the head (which measures 13 cm in height and weighs over 5 kg) looks like an impossible achievement for the disappeared Mayans. Hidden prisms in the base and hand-polished lenses inserted into the eyes combine to produce a blinding luminescence.

However, investigators did not find any evidence that the skull had been executed with modern tools. In fact, the crystalline structure of the skull was not respected when creating it, which eliminates the possibility of intervention by any modern lapidary. Is the skull a hoax or proof that Mayan technology was considerably more advanced than is generally assumed? Like many anomalies, the skull raises more questions than it answers.
