Madek Edelman's funeral. jewish leader

Polish President Lech Kaczynski, Jewish leaders and hundreds of people attended the funeral of Marek Edelman , the last leader of the Warsaw ghetto uprising against the Nazis in 1943 .
The Jewish Uprising in the Warsaw Ghetto was the first act of a major civil resistance against the Nazi occupiers in Poland during World War II.
Edelman also fought in the Warsaw Uprising in 1944 and was a strident member of the anticommunist opposition during the decades of the Cold War. He worked as a cardiologist in the central city of Lodz.
Edelman, who was a great moral authority in Poland, died in the Polish capital on October 2 at the age of 90. He was buried with military honors, accompanied by the Polish National Anthem, in the city's main Jewish cemetery, where he will remain close to other rebel leaders.
The funeral ceremonies began at the Monument to the Heroes of the Warsaw Ghetto with speeches by his friends, including Tadeusz Mazowiecki, the country's first elected premier.
Edelman's wooden coffin was draped with a red flag from the World War II years that belonged to the French leftist Bund.
br />The former president and founder of the liberation movement Solidarity, Lech Walesa also attended. , who was seen wiping away tears.
