History of Europe

An approach to the Spain of the eighteenth century:subsistence crisis, Enlightenment and crisis of the Old Regime

Soon we will start the school year. We will comment on more details soon but, for now, it is worth saying that the curriculum begins with the study of 18th century Spain. So, to warm things up, here are three concept maps on important issues on the subject.
1. The first conceptual map refers to subsistence crises . A typical economic characteristic of the pre-capitalist economy that interrelates economic mechanisms with other demographic ones and that constituted a brake on the development of the societies of the Old Regime.

2. The second conceptual map refers to the cultural evolution of Modern Europe . Understanding these antecedents is essential to contextualize both the appearance of the Enlightenment in the 18th century and its political corollary:Enlightened Despotism. 3. And the third conceptual map summarizes the reasons for the crisis of the Old Regime in Spain.
