Nero's wedding… with his boyfriends

Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus , was emperor of the Roman Empire between October 13, 54 and June 9, 68, last emperor of the Julio-Claudian dynasty. He has gone down in history for his atrocities (such as murdering his mother and wives), his eccentricities and for being responsible for the burning of Rome (although this last point is debatable). Another of Nero's great passions were... the ephebes .

Nero

Spore He was a young man of great beauty that Nero fell in love with as soon as he saw him and who also had a certain resemblance to his late wife Poppaea Sabina . For Nero it was not enough to keep him as a lover and decided to go further... marry him . There was a small drawback:marriages between men were prohibited in Rome. So, Esporo underwent a sex change procedure of the time... he was castrated . When he recovered from the operation, he was dressed in the best of Poppaea and the marriage ceremony was held. The festivities in honor of the newlyweds lasted several days and Nero forced everyone to treat him as the Emperor's wife.

Diophore he was a freed slave who fell to him, unlike Sporus, to play the role of man in his relationship with Nero. The wedding was staged, in which it was the emperor who was dressed in women's clothes, and at night he represented the consummation of the marriage imitating the moans of any virgin bride on the wedding night.
