The Roman festival Tarraco Viva in Madrid

Dear friends

As you probably know, the world of historical reconstruction (living history in the Anglo-Saxon world) is experiencing a boom in our country, with dozens of active groups that recreate different eras and more and more reconstruction festivals, which not only enjoy great popularity, but also represent an unbeatable vehicle to bring the story to the general public in a way that is as educational as it is playful.

Among these festivals, Tarraco Viva, the Roman festival of Tarragona , is a pioneer and indisputable benchmark, as well as an essential event in the city's calendar, and unavoidable for amateurs and professionals in the sector (it was there, without going any further, where Desperta Ferro was presented to the public back in 2010, and since then We haven't missed an edition). Every year, in May, the festival brings together endless activities in Tarragona, from gladiatorial combats or demonstrations of the Roman legionnaires' ways of fighting, to aspects of daily life such as Roman cuisine, religiosity or prostitution, lectures to charge of renowned specialists and endless proposals for audiences of all ages in different corners of the city. This year Tarraco Viva celebrates no less than its twentieth edition, and for the first time the festival comes to Madrid to present before the public of the capital in the National Archaeological Museum. Friday, April 13 At 12 noon there will be a press conference to present the event and on Saturday 14 , also at 12 noon, a re-enactment of the election of a mayor in a Roman city. You have more detailed information in this link. If you have the chance, don't miss this presentation or the festival itself if you can escape to Tarragona on May 25, 26 or 27 I assure you that it is worth it.
