They find two funerary bundles in Huaca Pucllana de Miraflores

Lima, Oct. 24 (ANDEAN). Huaca Pucllana is the scene of the discovery of a tomb from the year 1,000 AD in intact condition belonging to the Wari culture, discovered in the sixth stage of the area called the Great Pyramid of the enclosure and is made up of two bundles:an adult and a child. .According to the Miraflores Municipality, jurisdiction where the huaca is located, this is the third tomb found in Pucllana that was not destroyed by looters of later times and would be the third to be scientifically excavated.


The tomb, which is two meters deep, is accompanied by numerous offerings such as seven mates, four guinea pigs, more than 20 corn husks, pumpkins and cloth bags containing vegetables.
In addition, the bundles are made of vegetable fiber ropes and are not dressed.
The bundles are still they are in situ because the pertinent registration work is being carried out; the tomb was saved from looting as it was found slightly outside the space chosen by the ancient Peruvians of the Ichsma culture (1000 – 1450).
The remains discovered belong to a time of very strong social changes; They were probably representatives of an elite that exercised power from a place outside Lima, but when the population declined, they turned their anger against the already dead individuals, destroying their tombs.
The work in Huaca Pucllana is the result of the interest of the Municipality of Miraflores in valuing this archaeological site, and together with the Ministry of Culture through an Interinstitutional Cooperation Agreement, they are responsible for the investigation, conservation and enhancement of the monument.



The works have been directed since 1981 by Isabel Flores Espinoza, who heads a team made up of by archaeologists, conservators, physical anthropologists and other specialists.
