History of Sahod Movement

The nature of the Safahod movement was religious, but its goal was political, its founder was Bhagirath Manjhi. The agitators always chanted the name of Ram. Ever since the British authorities banned his Ram Naam chanting and other religious beliefs, his opposition to the British rule increased.

Later on, SP and movement leaders Lal Hebram and Peka were declared outlaws. According to the Lal Hembram Azad Hind Fauj, organized the nationalist party in Santhal Pargana. In 1945 AD, Lal Hembram surrendered on the orders of Mahatma Gandhi, but due to lack of evidence, he was released in 1940 AD.
