The Scented Sails of Cleopatra

Cleopatra in a TV drama. The queen of Egypt had the sails of the ships sprinkled with perfume

It seems that the skilful use of perfumes and essences constituted one of the most effective weapons of seduction of Cleopatra (1st century BC).

The queen of Egypt, described by many sources as a charming and bewitching woman, loved to surround herself with fragrances, among which she apparently preferred above all that of jasmine , which has already been widely used in that geographical area for centuries.

Cleopatra is said to have come to have the sails of ships sprinkled with perfume , so that the wind, blowing, could spread the aromas she loved most into the air.
