Conspiracy theories and their significance in pop culture and media

When we look back at history, there are some things that really can not be explained. Others tend to agree. When there are things that are not connected, it leads to people looking for answers. Since people need answers, they look for connections wherever they can. This has led to some of the most outrageous conspiracy theories. These theories have become the focus of pop culture and are a favorite pastime of Americans.

What is a conspiracy theory?

For those who are unaware, conspiracy theories are a theory that explains an event or set of circumstances as a result of a secret conspiracy by usually powerful conspirators. Or in other words, finding a scandalous connection to explain why an incident has happened. Through this blog, I aim to cover some of the most famous and interesting theories that many people have talked about. Since they are so popular, I will also examine how important these theories are in the media.

Some of the most popular theories

The

Bermuda Triangle conspiracy

Although planes and ships have disappeared without being in the Bermuda Triangle, there is still a fear of entering this area. I have researched this before and have found many ideas about why it happens in this area. This may be reasonable, as the area is more likely to have bad weather. Not that it's a passage into the lost city of Atlantis. To read more about other theories and coincidences in the Bermuda Triangle, check out my second blog about it.

People have also said that it has nothing to do with Atlantis or any of the theories out there. More or less it is due to mistakes, weather and other very, explanatory things. While this may be true, it is certainly not as fun to believe. As I have mentioned before, it is very difficult to ignore the many times this has happened in the same place.

Hoax for moon landing

There was a time when you could walk along the street and ask someone "was the moon landing real?" This will create a big debate. I'm sure there are still people today who are interested in this conspiracy. This conspiracy is just the way it sounds. In 1969, July 20 to be exact, Neil Armstrong landed on the moon. To be the first person to ever do that. Many people did not buy that this actually happened.

William Kaysing was the first person to doubt the claim to land on the moon. He was an engineer and said that the United States was not technically advanced enough to do such a thing. He published a book about it and claimed that in area 51. The reason for this was basically to beat Russia against it. The Kaysing claim had many people built on it, and that was the basis of many movies, like Capricorn One.

Conspiracy of the Oujia Board

This is not so much a conspiracy, but a fear. The Oujia tables are meant to be a lounge game. But somehow along the way, this was no longer the case. Somehow the game became something much more scary. In a previous blog, I fell into the rabbit hole to try to learn more about it.

Many scary movies have made it seem like it, and there have been reports that the board invited evil spirits into a house. It's a whole reddit thread dedicated to people who share their own stories and experiences. Many have shared what they think, and there are countless people I have met who refuse to play. To read people's stories, here's the thread.

Bigfoot

Mythical creatures have always been head scrapers. Sometimes I think the mind will create images to make us believe we are seeing something. For example, big foot has been a conspiracy for a very long time. So maybe the mind was wondering about the man, or maybe people were just dressing up in a gorilla costume to get

a reaction. Both very likely explanations, but like any conspiracy theory, where's the fun in that?

Bigfoot is more or less a wild man in the woods. It looks like a monkey and walks on two legs like a man. There have been many observations around the world of a creature that fits that description. Usually the observations are in the United States, but there are reports all the way in London, England. It can very easily be someone dressed in a costume, but there are some pictures that make this questionable. Some collections of images that have emerged contradict this. There have been pictures showing huge footprints that are unlikely to belong to any man.

Bigfoot is a big thing in popular culture today, like the others we've discussed, but before we go into their representation we still have a few more to talk about.

Illuminati

Secret societies are very interesting in the world. There are so many different ones. With

That said, there is no way to talk about conspiracy theories without mentioning the idea of the Illuminati. The idea of the Illuminati dates back to the French and American revolutions. Since the symbol of the illuminati, the pyramid with the eye on top (which is also on the back of the US dollar), people believe that it has existed since the pyramids.

Since the faith goes back centuries, it is one of the longest conspiracy theories. Also a very popular. Given that this is part of a secret society, it is difficult to find anything concrete about it. It started as a new world order, and now it seems to be something more scary. Now it is seen as a form of control. It is mostly connected to the music industry, since it is a way it can reach most people. And at one point, a youtuber, Shane Dawson, gained a lot of popularity through his research into conspiracy theories. However, it was short-lived and was eventually canceled due to previous behavior. But his videos go in depth and really make you think about the validity of these theories.

Pop culture that shows conspiracy theories

Youtube

As I mentioned before, especially with Shane Dawson, he went through an era where he really blew up to fame. He was always a youtuber and was always able to make money, but between the years 2017-2019 he really found his niche. If he watched his YouTube channel, the videos that had millions of views were his multiple series and the little conspiracy theory videos. They became so popular that he was able to collaborate with his friend, makeup artist, Jeffree Star, to create his conspiracy palette with eye shadows.

His last really popular series was one where he hunted for conspiracies before the pandemic. Each video has over 20 million views, and for a while everyone talked about what he should do next. And what theory he should test. For a while, his series on the search for these theories was very popular. That was all anyone wanted to talk about. Since this was in everyone's minds, there was an increase in popularity, but their importance does not end there.

Conspiracies in television

Some of these theories are so insane that television cannot fail to show them. For example, in the children's show Wizards from Waverly Place which was on the Disney Channel, it had an entire episode dedicated to the Bermuda Triangle conspiracy. Since they were wizards when wearing a pair of "bermuda shorts" (side marks they were very ugly), they managed to travel to the triangle.

The episode follows attempts to reunite a teenage couple, half of whom are stranded in the triangle. But once the Bermuda Triangle arrives, as in reality, it is a place of strange energy. Magic does not work, so Wizards would go to the triangle and then not have the opportunity to come back. So in the fictional world, the people who had disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle were actually wizards. This was the first time children were able to learn about the myth. Although it is a stretch that has to do with wizards, the child's emotional mind will associate something with being out on the Bermuda Triangle.

Capricorn One

The year is 1977, and Neil Armstrong had probably landed on the moon not so long ago. People find it very difficult to believe this for one reason or another. So much so that this became the basis for movies. Due to its popularity as a conspiracy theory, this paved the way for Capricorn One. It was the first movie on the screen that challenged the idea of the moon landing without coming out and saying it.

The film follows a group that is the first to travel to Mars. This was not the case. The two main characters do not end up leaving the spacecraft. The plane had taken off and was empty of passengers. The reason for this was to keep NASA's funding the same, and they needed a successful mission. So through the fake trip to Mars, the newscast showed the two main characters after landing. When the reality is, they filmed at the base, just like a TV show. It did very well in the box office and is an interesting topic. To see the movie itself, it is available on Hulu to stream with a subscription.

Free Brittney Movement

I felt that this needed a separate section, especially after the latest news. The music industry is full of conspiracies. Did you know that the rulers are Beyonce and Jay-Z? Another is that the singer (one of my favorites), Avril Lavigne, is actually dead and her body double has taken over her career. Although I hope this is not true, it is difficult to ignore some theories and their "evidence". But what is now getting a lot of publicity is the "Free Britney Movement".

The conspiracy that started it all

I feel that this is a good example of what can come from a conspiracy theory. Britney Spears managed to reach the top of the superstar in the 1990s at the age of 15. Ever since the start of her career, Britney has been under the microscope and controversial around. It seemed that no matter what she did, everyone had something to say about it. Whether it was what she was wearing or the lyrics she sang. Everyone had an opinion about it, and many of them were not good.

So how it started began with her voice. In the video here., One can hear the signature baby voice she has is not present. And in this video, she's just a child. So how did this voice you hear in "Beat Me Baby Again" become? Many fans analyzed her actions to create theories. There are videos like this one where they all have theories that she is being held against her will.

Free Britney

The free Britney movement received recognition in 2018/2019. That was when news of her conservatory was made known. So her life has not been her for very long. There are videos that show that she needs to put on a persona. She must remain that 90s pop star.

Many parents convicted Spears of her past actions, such as when she shaved her head or smashed the papparzi window. In 2021, the "Framing Britney Spears" special will go into detail about most of her career and behind the scenes. You can watch the documentary on Hulu. When everyone learned about her conservatory, that was when she finally fought against it. Brintney is well into adulthood now, but none of her money belongs to her but her father.

23. June 2021

After the theory of Brintey's life that did not belong to her was actually true, due to the conservatory, the audience began to fight for her. There were marches and the "Free Britney Movement" gained great popularity. It became a trend, many talked about it on Twitter and other celebrities spoke in support. Only in the last two weeks was it heard about her conservatory.

It got a lot of airtime on the news and social media went wild. It's a quote that Spears said in his testimony, "I want to gradually move on and I want the real deal, I want to be able to get married and have a baby. I was told, right now in the conservatory, I'm not capable of to get married or have a baby, I have an (IUD) inside myself right now, so I do not get pregnant.I wanted to take (IUD) out, so I could start trying to have a new baby. But this the so-called team does not let me go to the doctor to take it because they do not want me to have children-more children. ”

I connected her entire testimony to the conservatory, which is very moving. But even after that, the referee denied her freedom from his controlling team. To think that this whole movement started with a conspiracy theory that her career was not her own, makes me wonder how much truth other theories also hold. All in all, the way people connect things is amazing. Something so bizarre can somehow make sense. Who knows, maybe the Illuminati controls everything, or that people are so easily manipulated.

the conclusion

These are just a few of the conspiracy theories that have been at the center of attention lately. But these theories have gained so much popularity that they are now part of the culture. These theories have been shown in movies, TV shows and so on and have become popular in mainstream media and pop culture and are likely to be passed on whether they are true or not. Many people feel the need to weigh their two cents and make sense of the world, and it has been an interesting anthropological phenomenon throughout history.
