The Austrian Archduke did not want to go to Sarajevo at all. The Serbian government, although it knew about the planned coup, almost forced the heir to the throne to come. Anyway, the Archduke could still get out of the coup alive. His fate was determined by the self-confidence of one local official (read more on this topic) .

The Auschwitz camp was built in 1917. He was sent to workers from Galicia who set off to the West in search of a better life. The Austro-Hungarian authorities could hold up to 12,000 people in it at the same time. But it was by no means a concentration camp (read more on that).

In fact, the march of the First Cadre Company was far from the well-known idyllic image . Instead of beautiful girls throwing garlands of flowers around their necks, the soldiers were accompanied by dirt, hunger and stink (read more on this).
