Nazi Jihad. Could Hitler have won the war thanks to Islam?

On April 29, 1945, the day before his suicide, Hitler suddenly realized that he could easily have won World War II. It was enough ... to combine Nazism with jihad and launch the holy offensive on behalf of the prophet!

In a bunker near Berlin, he began to dream a vision of glory, which he was deprived of - of course - by his treacherous associates: The whole world of Islam trembled at the news of our victories . The Egyptians, Iraqis, and the entire Middle East were ready to rebel. Just think about what we could do (…). We had a great chance to pursue a brilliant policy towards Islam!

Indeed, the Third Reich could pursue such a "brilliant" policy. Certainly the Muslims themselves were open to it - or at least a significant percentage of the inhabitants of the Middle East.

Nazism found a fanatically committed supporter in Mohammad Amin al-Husseim:the great mufti of Jerusalem since 1921, that is, in fact, the most influential and highest-ranking representative of the Muslim community in Palestine. Both on him and on many other radicals, the Führer's anti-Jewish messages had a mesmerizing effect since 1933.

Hitler at the end of his days very much regretted that there was no Nazi jihad.

As Christopher Hale writes in his book "Hitler's Executioners. Europe's dirty secret " madness over Hitler spread to many corners of the Middle East and North Africa like a nasty rash (p. 340) .

The mufti itself launched a genuine hate campaign against the half-million Palestinian Jewish population. During the Arab revolt in 1937, the gangs inspired by him organized attacks on Jews and the British who tolerated them in their mandate. Eventually, al-Hussein was forced to leave Jerusalem, but that did not dull his resolve.

He first moved to Beirut, where he zealously called for the extermination of the followers of Judaism. Then - during the war - he fled to Baghdad, where, as it were, on behalf of the Third Reich helped organize the uprising which was to overthrow the authorities and give rise to a Nazi jihad . Christopher Hale writes:

[Al-Husayni] conspired with the pro-Nazi Iraqi nationalist Rashid Ali al-Gailani, who launched a coup against the pro-British Hashemite regime. In May 1941 (...) Iraqi troops surrounded the British Air Force base in Habbania.

They were unsuccessfully supported by special forces, recruited (...) by the former German ambassador to Iraq, and several Luftwaffe bombers which ran out of fuel after carrying out several fruitless missions against a besieged British base ("Hitler's Executioners," p. 341).

The involvement of the Third Reich, which was just getting ready to attack the Soviet Union, was minimal. As a result, the British put down the uprising without any problems. The rebels could only rejoice in the fact that they managed to kill in cold blood about two hundred people, mostly Jews.

Seeing that the fight without concrete help from the Nazis was ineffective, the Mufti decided to contact Hitler himself. He went to Italy disguised as a woman, and from there to Germany.

In November 1941, the Führer received him in a long audience and assured him that in the future his troops would certainly reach the Middle East, and then Germany's only goal would be to destroy Jews living in Arab lands and under the protection of British authority (p. 343) .

Hearing this, Al-Hussein decided to commit himself with all his might to persuade Muslims to support Nazism. Mainly thanks to him, 20,000 followers of Islam joined the Bosnian Waffen-SS unit . The mufti himself made his plans clear:he wanted to start another uprising in the Middle East, this time on a large scale.

In his sermons in Berlin, he argued that Jewish influence was inciting nations, dragging them into a destructive war of destruction (p. 345) . On radio broadcasts he thundered: world Jewry today leads the Allied armies towards the abyss of demoralization and destruction as it did in the time of the Prophet (p. 350)

Mufti during a meeting with Hitler. What if he could convince him to jihad?

The mufti's plans were wide ranging. He called on the Nazis to focus their military effort on North Africa so that Rommel's Afrika Korps was only the outpost of a great rebellion. He argued that one should:

create Arab troops as a combat force and equip them. They will march to Egypt and other Arab countries to disturb and harass the enemy (…) and to support uprisings inside the country (…). Send weapons and armaments to the rear of the enemy in Egypt, and then to Palestine, Syria and Iraq to prepare the ground for an uprising (p. 348).

However, the Führer did not believe in the crucial importance of the war in the Middle East. Instead of striking with all his forces on the oil-bearing areas of the Arabian Peninsula and Palestine, he launched an offensive against the USSR. The author of "Hitler's Executioners" suggests that if he followed the mufti's advice, his success would be complete:

Had Hitler transferred his main forces to the Middle East and not attacked the USSR, the war might have gone differently. In the photo, Wehrmacht soldiers cross the Soviet border.

The German Wehrmacht could easily crush the weakened, poorly equipped British forces stationed in Egypt and Palestine. Heydrich's operational groups would wreak havoc in Tel Aviv and Palestine. The Luftwaffe would raid British garrisons and wipe them all the way to the border with British India (p. 337)

In this way, Hitler could win World War II and at the same time murder half a million Jews living in Palestine. Fortunately, he did not believe in Nazi jihad until the day before his death . And thanks to this, the Germans managed to create only one concentration camp in North Africa - near Tunis, just before the Allies ousted Rommel from Libya.
