Venus, Goddess of Beauty (Aphrodite, Venus)

The goddess of beauty is Aphrodite in Greek name, Venus in Latin used in ancient Rome, Venus in English, all have the same god name, and I think the Greek name Aphrodite is good for other articles. However, personally, the name "Venus" fits best, so I'll call it Venus in this blog!

When I was still in elementary school, there was a game called Saga 2, and the boss who appeared there was Venus.

Venus is a big wall in the middle of the game, and I was an elementary school student at the time, so I couldn't beat Venus ...

I still clearly remember the line that the main character spits before fighting Venus, "Venus, you are the ugliest now !!".

So, let's talk about what kind of goddess Venus was in Greek mythology this time.

Olympus 12 In fact, a foreign existence among the gods

The 12 Olympians are a general term for gods centered around the main god Zeus, and are basically a general term for the children of Cronus and Rhea and the gods who fought against Cronus and other Titan gods.

Counting from the creator god Gaia, it is the third generation, but only Venus is derived from Uranus, the father of Cronus, and can be said to be the second generation.

The names are confusing, but when Cronus and Uranus fought for supremacy in the world, part of Uranus became Venus, the god of beauty.

I don't say where it is (^^;)

Depending on the folklore, it may be the daughter of Zeus, but in Theodosius's "Theogonia", it is derived from Uranus, so I would like to adopt that.

The goddess of beauty likes good-looking guys and cheating

Venus's husband is Zeus, the main god of Greek mythology, and Hephaestus, the son of his wife Hera, the god of fire.

Hephaestus is what we now call Busamen, and there are various theories as to why he married the goddess of beauty, and it is said that it was mostly planned by Hera.

Venus, who loves beauty, hates her husband anyway, and will continue to flirt with Hephaestus' younger brothers such as Ares and Hermes.

It's unclear if Venus and Hephaestus were divorced, but Venus has a lot to do with the gods, loves the human handsome Adonis, and gives birth to Aeneas with the human Anchises.

Aeneas is folklore the ancestor of Roman ancestor Romulus, and is also the main character of the epic "Aeneid" of Roman best poet Vergilius.
