The song Miss Sarajevo relates to the context of the Bosnian war, which began around 1992. The song was described as follows in the Passengers CD booklet:Original Soundtracks 1:"This song was composed due to Bill Carter's award-winning documentary Miss Sarajevo. The aim of the documentary and the music presented was to show the world what the living conditions of the Bosnian population were like during the war." Herzegovina, it is CORRECT to state:a) The conflict is part of the Cold War context, as the Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic sought support from the Warsaw Pact to put an end to the Bosnian protests, which, supported by the US, aimed to promote democratic reforms in the Yugoslavia, with the consequent dismemberment of the country. b) The deposition of the Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic from power in Yugoslavia leads the Bosnians to proclaim their independence; however, the Serbs residing in Bosnia did not accept secession and, supported by NATO, used weapons to start a conflict that only ended with the diplomatic intervention of the UN. c) Tension between Bosnian guerrillas of Albanian origin, from the Liberation Army, and Serbs living in Bosnia-Herzegovina, supported by Slobodan Milosevic, culminated in bloody clashes, which only came to an end with the intervention of NATO, which transferred the administration of the country to the UN. d) Bosnia-Herzegovina's independence led Bosniaks of Serb origin, dissatisfied with the separation, to react violently against the decision.
