Yolanda of Aragon (1379 - 1443)

An enigmatic character from the reign of Charles VII, Yolande of Aragon is the young Dauphin's mother-in-law. Married to Louis d'Anjou, she proved to be an excellent politician. Very quickly during the conflict that shook France, she protected the Dauphin Charles by keeping him in her castles in the Loire Valley. She gives him her daughter for wife and surrounds her with her advisers from the House of Anjou. She maneuvers to break the alliance of Brittany with England by promoting the rise of Constable Arthur de Richemont, future Duke of Brittany. Advisor very close to the young Charles VII, she gives all her support to Joan of Arc. Some even see her as a manipulator who would have used the Maid for political purposes.
