Griffin(726 - 753)

Natural son of Charles Martel, he opposes Carloman and Pépin who received the kingdom in his place. Imprisoned in Neufchâteau, he escapes thanks to the complicity of his sister. He took refuge in Aquitaine alongside Duke Hunald. Defeated, Griffon will take refuge in Saxony before laying down his arms against the armies of Pépin. The latter, not resentful, granted him the title of Duke of Le Mans, giving him nearly 12 counties.
