Fouche Joseph (1759 -1820)

Deputy to the Convention (Mountain), sent on a mission to Lyon, he repressed anti-republican revolts and ensured the dechristianization of the region. Fouché is one of the main ministers with Talleyrand of the Consulate and the Empire. A schemer without scruples, he was until his disgrace in 1809, the head of the imperial police. He joined the Restoration, he was forced into exile in 1815, he left France with his great fortune.
