Descendants of Rao Jodha

Rao Jodha's eldest son was Neemba, but Nimba had died during Jodha's lifetime. Therefore, the chieftains declared Jodha's other son Joga as his successor, but due to Joga's laziness, Satal was placed on the throne on 14 May 1488 and Joga was given the jagirs of Bilara and Kharia. On 13 March 1491, Satal died due to heavy injuries in a battle with Hakim Mallu Khan of Ajmer. After that Souza was made Rao of Marwar.

When Souza became the ruler of Jodhpur state, Bika, expressing his authority over Jodhpur, sent Padihar Bela to Jodhpur and asked for the state symbols of Rao Jodha's Chhatra-chanwar etc. Souza refused to give the state symbol. On this Bika attacked Jodhpur and besieged the Jodhpur fort. On this occasion, Bida came to the aid of Bika with 3,000 soldiers from Dronapur. After a ten-day siege, Hadi Jasmade, Souza's mother, met Bika. Rajmata told Bika that you have now established a new kingdom. If you keep your younger brothers, they will live. On this Bika said that I want only pious things. On this, the following royal symbols were handed over to Bika at the behest of Rajmata- (1) Rao Jodha's shield and sword (2) Takht (3) Chanwar (4) Chhatra (5) Harbhu Sankhla's dagger (6) Hiranyagarbha Laxminarayan's Idol (7) Eighteen-handed idol of Naganechi (8) Karand (9) Bhanwar Dhol (10) Vaishal Nagara (11) Dalsingar horse and (12) Bhunjai's deg. Most of these objects- Takht, Shield, Sword, Dagger, Chhatra, Chanwar etc. are kept in a chamber of Bikaner fort. King of Bikaner worships this material and idols on the day of Vijayadashami.

Souza died on 2 October 1515. After that Souza's grandson Ganga became the ruler of Jodhpur. Thus for five hundred years the descendants of Jodha fought with their enemies and continued to rule the kingdom of Marwar. After the independence of India in 1947 AD, Marwar state was included in Rajasthan in 1949 AD.

Rao Chunda had 24 sons. Rao Ranmal had 26 sons. Rao Jodha had 20 sons. Thus these three kings had 70 sons. Todd has written that in three centuries an army of 50,000 Rathores who were descended from the same father was formed in the kingdom of Marwar. There was an area of 80 thousand square miles under them.
